Athlete, scholarship chair, president and proud parent are only
four titles that can be used to describe
the active loyalty of this Tiger Pride
winner. Brock Hessing has helped organize
a chapter, reorganize an affinity and
headed up the Association.
As a ‘founding father’ of
the Greater Peoria Alumni Chapter, Brock
has held every office, including president.
He has hosted events in his home and in
his work place. At the same time he has
been an on-going force in promoting and
maintaining the chapter’s scholarship
program.
During much of the past 22 years, Brock
has held dual leadership roles in both
his chapter and in the Association. Having
served in various positions on the national
board including as a regional director
and 4 officer positions, Brock was elected
president of the Alumni Association in
1996. Developing open communications and
a closer relationship with the Board of
Curators are two major achievements, along
with recommending the credit card program
that continues to produce significant
income for the Association.
Over the past two years Brock has led
the Varsity M Association to become a
chartered affinity within the Alumni Association.
This relationship strengthens both organizations
and adds to the overall support of Mizzou.
His sustained leadership shows no sign
of waning.
With daughter Hannah, a 2002 Mizzou grad
now living and working in Chicago, Brock
may have a new target for his volunteer
service. In the meantime, when not making
regular visits to Columbia, he resides
in Peoria, Illinois with his wife Shirley.
