1999 Tiger Pride Award
Carolyn Wiley
"Unquestionable devotion and service
to this University" marks the beginning
of the nomination of Carolyn Wiley for
the Tiger Pride Award.
Carolyn graduated from the College
of Human Environmental Sciences in 1964
and launched her career as a teacher of
Home Economics. Once established, she
began an intense and varied history of
alumni service.
As an HES alumni leader she has
served on that College's alumni board
and in several leadership roles, including
chairing the Development Committee. She
continues to be an active leader on the
alumni board and has added scholarship
fund-raising and student recruiting to
her breadth of service.
Student recruiting is something
she also does from her home - in Chicago!
She is a Tiger Tracker and a regular at
college nights in her area. In fact, the
admissions office considers Carolyn its
mainstay in Chicago. Campus recruiters
are treated to dinner by Carolyn and she
is often a speaker at Preview MU events
in that city.
For the Alumni Association Carolyn
has been chair of the membership committee,
held executive officer positions and served
as president from March of 1994 through
June of 1995. This past year she has served
on the Association's Long Range Planning
Committee, helping develop guideposts
for the Association in the new millennium.
Carolyn's service to MU has made
her a "#1 Frequent Flier" with the airlines,
since each meeting in Columbia meant a
roundtrip ticket from Chicago! We'd like
to add that you're #1 with us also - Congratulations,
Tiger! |
