New MAA Membership Rates Set

This year the Mizzou Alumni Association reached a record 40,144 members. That figure is due in part to the value of MAA membership and in part to member's knowledge that dues support vital programs and services for all of Mizzou.

"To see membership not just remain strong but rather increase during tough economic times is heartening," says David Roloff, director of membership & marketing. “Membership at peer institutions is generally flat or decreasing.  It shows the loyalty of MU alumni and the value they see in association membership.”

Dues support the entire university through a wide variety of programs. “It’s a great overall way to support Mizzou,” he says. 

On July 1, 2009 MAA membership rates were adjusted as follows:

Annual Individual- $45
Annual Dual- $65

Annual Senior (65 or older)- $35
Senior Dual (65 or older)- $50

MU Faculty or Staff- $35
Faculty or Staff Dual- $50

Recent Graduate (special offer for graduates 1–3 years from their commencement date)- $35
Recent Graduate Dual- $50

True Tiger (MU student)- $25
MU Student Dual- $35

Q&A for Member Rate Increase:

Q: What is the reason for the rates to be increased?
A:  Typically MAA has had the need to increase member rates every four to five years to adjust for the rising cost of servicing members. The last membership rate increase was in 2004.

Q: Why raise rates when the economy is so poor?
A:  The Association understands the economic climate and due to market fluctuations and rising costs is also affected by the economy. A reduction of funding by the university and lower investment income coupled with rising costs of postage, printing and other costs has prompted the Association to raise membership rates.

Q: What do I get out of MAA membership? I don’t use the benefits, why should I renew?
A:  MAA membership supports the widest range of programs and services of vital need to campus. Tax-deductible membership dues support alumni and student programs, communications, outreach and advocacy efforts on behalf of the University of Missouri.
