Association Reaches Membership Record

In a year that started out with record-breaking enrollment and continued with an unprecedented level of fundraising support and more Big 12 championships than ever before, another university record has been shattered– membership in the Mizzou Alumni Association. On May 18, 2009 the association announced an all-time membership high of 40,144, an increase of 3,467 members or 12.1 percent from the previous year. This increase also represents one of the largest yearly membership percentage increases in the association’s 156-year history.

“Mizzou alumni are very passionate about their alma mater, so it’s no surprise that our alumni have continued the tradition of supporting MU through membership in the Mizzou Alumni Association,” said Craig Lalumandier, the association’s volunteer president. “I’m proud of our staff and alumni for reaching this incredible mark.”

Membership in the alumni association makes possible programs such as Homecoming, MIZZOU Magazine and Faculty Alumni Awards. The association also provides support for 107 alumni chapters and organizations worldwide and presents more than $250,000 annually in student scholarships.

“The Mizzou Alumni Association is the most comprehensive way to support the University,” said Todd McCubbin, executive director. “Through membership support, we are able to offer programs and activities that connect our 250,000 alumni worldwide to the university. Members also make it possible for us to provide much needed support to a wide variety of university entities.”

The Mizzou Alumni Association proudly supports the best interests and traditions of Missouri’s flagship institution and its alumni worldwide. Lifelong relationships are the foundation of our support. These relations are enhanced through advocacy, communication and volunteerism.
