A Night of Cheer and Charitable Giving
The Rocky Mountain Tigers Alumni Chapter of Denver combined Tiger pride, networking and giving back at their J-School Holiday Happy Hour on December 13. After the success of their last happy hour in June, the board made it a biannual event- this time, adding a charity component.
Sara Adams, BJ ’07, was the coordinator of the happy hour and decided that the event was a good opportunity for Tigers to support the less fortunate in their area.
“I think the holidays are an important time to give back to our community and help those in need,” Adams said.
Adams partnered with fellow alumnae Laura Graham to collect donations for the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver. Graham works as the Marketing and Communications Coordinator for the Boys & Girls Club and said she was thrilled to work with the Rocky Mountain Tigers in support of the Care 4 Colorado Toy Drive.
“Throughout the year, the children Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver serve rely on their clubs for many things,” Graham said. “The warm meal they get at the Club is the only food they may eat that night. The same goes for the holiday season. For many, the gift they get at their Club may be the only one they receive.”
In addition to being a chance to make a child’s holiday a little brighter, Adams said the event, and others like it, are great opportunities for Tigers in the Denver area to get to know each other better and have some fun.
The events "provide opportunities for Mizzou alumni to meet fellow grads and build upon both professional and personal relationships," Adams said. "We all share a common love for Mizzou and pride for Mizzou’s J-School.”
The Rocky Mountain Tigers plan on continuing the biannual happy hour events and partnering with the Boys & Girls Club in the future.
