Heather Starek, BJ ‘97
2006 Regional Mizzou G.O.L.D.
Energy is the word that appeared most often in the nomination that Brian Murphy, President, submitted on behalf of the Washington D. C. Chapter.
Brian and others credit Heather with moving the D.C. Chapter forward with her determination, organization and energy.
For her chapter, Heather serves on the Board and has been a primary event coordinator. She manages the overall aspects of the chapter's three annual events. At the same time, she works to find new ways to engage alumni through use of new venues or events.
Dedication is another word used to describe Heather's role in the Chapter. Never a quitter, Heather makes sure that even the slightest glitch is corrected seamlessly.
While responsibility and attention to detail characterize her event management role, Heather is also an active assistant in activities for which she was not the coordinator.
When she was needed in the fall, Heather also stepped up to the plate and represented Mizzou at two of the college nights in the D.C. area.
Heather's service as a DC Chapter dynamo has spanned three plus years, and other leaders credit her with being the individual most responsible for returning the Chapter to Columns level achievement last year.
