MeLinda Via Schnyder, BJ ’93, News-Editorial, of Wichita, Kansas

Her nominator characterized MeLinda Schnyder as the driving force behind the organization and success of the alumni chapter in Wichita, Kansas. Since its beginning in 2002, the Tornado Alley Tigers Chapter has thrived under MeLinda’s leadership.

Road trips, college fairs, Founders’ Celebration and family picnics are only a few of the events that MeLinda has organized in Wichita. She reached out to fellow Tigers, seeking their ideas and input.

To engage alumni in a variety of events, MeLinda uses e-newsletters and email notices to keep alumni informed and involved. She showed sensitivity to how the cost of events might affect attendance, and worked to develop a variety of activities that would appeal to alumni of all ages. Easily recognizable, this MU Tiger is always seen wearing black and gold!

Melinda is proud to be a tiger and that pride extends to the array of MU pictures she proudly displays in her office – a rare and brave act, deep in the heart of Jayhawk and Wildcat territory! MeLinda’s knowledgeable and enthusiastic leadership is very much appreciated by the members of her chapter.
