The University of Missouri-Columbia has 208,668 alumni worldwide including entrepreneurs, actors, philanthropists and scientists. To honor those alumni who have worked to maintain tiger spirit wherever they are, the Mizzou Alumni Association has established the Mizzou G.O.L.D. Award. Chris Nease, Houston, Texas, was the recipient of this annual award at the Alumni Association's Leaders' Weekend awards banquet Sept. 28.
This award is for a graduate of the last decade who has given outstanding volunteer service to the University through the association and/or any of its affiliates. One award goes to a Missouri resident and one is for a graduate living outside Missouri.
Nease, originally of Springfield, graduated from MU in 1994. A lawyer with Shook, Hardy and Bacon, L.L.P., he has participated in numerous volunteer and pro bono projects with the Houston Bar Association and Houston Young Lawyers Association. An active member of the Houston and the American Bar Associations, he enjoys playing golf, spending time with his family and following the Missouri Tigers.
MU is the largest and oldest campus of the state's major public research institutions. MU's mission in research and graduate education provides enhanced opportunities and challenges in the undergraduate areas of humanities, arts and sciences and selected professional fields. The University provides a basis for service to the people of the state through outreach programs.
